The home advisory board

The Care Homes Act regulates the co-determination rights of disabled people of legal age who live in a special housing facility – in our case the communal housing forms Haus Gabriel and external residential groups.

This guarantees your right to participate in matters relating to the operation of the respective residential facility. This is because the home advisory board is the central co-determination body and represents the interests of all residents. Through it, the residents have a say in matters such as the conditions of stay in the facility, catering or leisure activities. However, the right of co-determination also applies to measures that serve to ensure the quality of the institution.

The legal basis can be found in the Nursing Home Act (HeimG) and in the Ordinance on the Participation of Nursing Home Residents (HeimMitwirkungsV).

The Home Advisory Council is elected by the residents of the residential facility at regular intervals. The term of office of the Home Advisory Board is four years. The total number of home advisory board members to be elected depends on the size of the facility, i.e. the number of residents. Home advisory councillors may not only be residents of the residential facility, but also external persons from the circle of relatives and other persons of trust, such as members of local organisations for the disabled.

Our home advisory board is currently made up of residents and external persons (relatives of residents).
