Workshops
Concept & Philosophy
Our workshops stand for more than just a workplace. They are a place of support, community and development. With a holistic approach, we combine professional qualifications with personal support and social responsibility.

Concept & Philosophy
Our mission statement:
Work as the key to participation
We believe that work is the key to social participation. It not only gives people with support needs a task, but also self-confidence, recognition and prospects. Our workshops offer a protected environment in which skills can be developed and individual strengths utilised. We create jobs that are tailored to people’s needs – enabling them to enjoy a meaningful working life.

Concept & Philosophy
Educational support: individualised encouragement & support
Every person is unique – and our educational support is just as individualised. Our social education workers and therapists work closely with employees to promote their strengths and develop new skills. Whether professional qualification, social integration or personal development – we accompany each step with support and respect.
Concept & Philosophy
Sustainability & social responsibility
Sustainability is a central component of our actions. We focus on environmentally friendly production methods, responsible use of resources and durable products. At the same time, social responsibility is at the centre of our philosophy: we create jobs for people with support needs and offer them the opportunity to actively participate in society.
Our responsibility in practice:
Promoting social inclusion and participation
Co-operation with regional partners and companies
Environmentally friendly processes and resource-efficient solutions

Concept & Philosophy
Social commitment together
Focus on people.
Over 150 qualified employees work at Gelsenkirchener Werkstätten – whether in care, as group leaders or in administration. Our multi-professional teams with specialists in occupational education, occupational therapy, psychology, social pedagogy, art education and many other areas combine our expertise in care.

Strong together.
Our employees have chosen to work at the Gelsenkirchener Werkstätten because they enjoy working with people and because the Gelsenkirchener Werkstätten offer the space to be there for each other. Volunteers also complement our team.

Living responsibility, strengthening community.
We are proud and filled with gratitude that our fantastic team has been helping to shape social life in Gelsenkirchen for almost 60 years, in particular through our wealth of experience and our sense of responsibility towards the people entrusted to us.

Certified quality.
The Gelsenkirchener Werkstätten are certified in accordance with DIN ISO 9001 to ensure our quality standards in our daily work. Our quality management system ensures a high level of transparency in our processes – a point that is particularly important to us in order to make our quality comprehensible to customers and partners.
We are highly professional and are constantly developing. Many well-known companies therefore have their products manufactured in our workshops and many private customers utilise our services, such as green maintenance.

Our certificates
The Gelsenkirchen workshops and the Gabriel Lebenswelt are certified several times. We receive these certificates in co-operation with accredited partners.
